The Importance of Shooting Corner Shots

If you want to improve your shooting percentage, you’ve got to start shooting from the corners, according to a new study on basketball corner shots. It turns out that corner shots are the most effective type of shot there is, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. Here are some tips on how to do it right!

Importance of Shooting Corner Shots

How do you take your first corner shot?

How to take your first corner shot? Proper form and with confidence are equally important. Shot selection is also important. A good coach would teach you that if you have time to get your feet set, pick a spot and go to it, instead of just taking any old shot without much thought. If you need a goal quickly, though, a corner kick is not always going to be in your best interest. Unless there’s space or an open player behind them, most professional players will tell you that dead-ball kicks aren’t their preferred choice for quick goals. What can coaches do to help players with corner kicks? A lot!

Understand where you want the ball to go

If you want to win, you need to be an opportunist and make the most of every scoring opportunity. That’s why knowing where to shoot is key. For example, if a defender blocks your shot and the ball gets kicked out for a corner kick, don’t just stand around hoping someone else will take it—go in there and take it yourself! Taking that corner can bring in some easy points, depending on how well you curl or cross the ball. It also helps position your team in front of the goal so they’re closer to scoring again when the next opportunity comes along. There are few things more satisfying than watching a teammate volley one home after you took an indirect shot from 30 yards out!

Use the defender as a screen

This works better in a game setting as the defender will know you are trying to score and play aggressively, but it’s a very effective way to get a shot up. You need to get the defender in between you and the hoop (obviously), so he can act as a screen. Just dribble towards him, cut down towards the hoop on the diagonal, take one or two small steps (like crossover steps) with your back foot and then shoot. The defender won’t be able to come out and contest the shot because he is still between you and the basket.

Practice makes perfect

With patience and dedication, you can take your game to a whole new level. And you don’t need any fancy equipment or coaches; practice makes perfect! If you have an online coach, great! However, practicing drills is enough. You will always improve in your skills if you work on them consistently. By keeping your motivation high and your focus on improving week after week, you will get great results in no time. There are also many drills available online that will help you achieve greatness in tennis very quickly. Some tips include practicing diagonal shots to open up opportunities for left-handed backhands or switching hands while serving. So keep up those drills and have fun with it! When all else fails, start a league or two of friends to play against for some fun competition!

Know What You Want Out Of This Shot

The point of shooting corner shots is to get it close to the basket. The idea is to make it from the three-point line and be able to get a shot off before the defender can close out. You want good form and you want a high arc that’s hard for a defender to block. If you don’t know what you want out of your shot then how do you expect to hit it consistently? Make sure you know what you want out of your shot first and then shoot a few corner shots until you start hitting them regularly. Practice makes perfect!
