How Stephen Curry Scores by Shooting the Basketball

How many times have you watched the NBA and wondered how in the world Stephen Curry keeps making those impossible shots? While you may never be able to shoot the basketball like Steph, that doesn’t mean you can’t learn a thing or two from his unique shooting style. In this article, we’ll be discussing some of the key concepts behind his unorthodox shooting form so that you can get one step closer to nailing those long-range bombs in your own games.

His technique

By far the most important thing to note about Curry’s technique is that he is always moving on the basketball court to make it hard for defenders. He utilizes sharp cuts and sudden movements to elude opponents who have a difficult time anticipating his whereabouts. His incredible three-point shot is due in large part to the fact that defenders must respect his ability to get close enough for mid-range jumpers. The moment they relax, however, he is off and running toward the basket. Because of his clever changes of pace, it is impossible for opponents to slow him down. On top of all that, he also has tremendous skill when it comes to dribbling the ball out past defenders, giving him another way of scoring aside from shooting threes or getting into the lane.

His back-up plan

In the NBA, there are two types of offensive players: Those who can create their own shots, and those who can’t. There’s no in-between. And every player has to be able to create his own shot when the play breaks down. It doesn’t have to be spectacular—even taking a simple contested jumper will work, or driving into the paint with a couple of guys on you (Curry is particularly good at splitting the defense and finishing against multiple defenders). If your man defender goes under the screen when you run a pick-and-roll, for example, you’d better take that jumper if he does—or else that opens up another defender for your teammate to drive past if you kick it out to him.

His mindset

Every shooter knows there are two parts to making a shot: the physical ability to shoot and the mental will to shoot in any situation. Both elements are equally important, but for players like Stephen Curry, the second is much more critical. That’s because Curry doesn’t rely on strength or athletic talent to make shots; he relies on the sharpness of his eye-hand coordination and his ability to think the game. In short, he makes himself ready before every shot so that when it comes time to make one, his execution is simple. Reaching his goals

Stephen Curry is quite possibly on his way to becoming one of basketball’s greatest players. Since entering into professional basketball, Stephen has become an NBA champion, an NBA MVP, and a two-time All-Star selection. He made history by being named unanimous MVP in 2016, making him just that third player in NBA history to ever receive all 130 first-place votes, alongside Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and LeBron James. But even as an NBA champion, Stephen is always striving for better goals; he states that he’s not content with winning just one championship in his career. His thirst for success leads us to believe that we might be seeing more championships from Steph soon enough!

Get a coach!

Although I’m a huge believer in the self-taught mindset and DIY approach to most things, getting an online coach is the fastest way to become a better shooter in games. If you’re serious about becoming a great shooter, get a coach and follow their advice. A good coaching program will identify your weaknesses and develop drills that are proven to improve them. It will also set up training so that every session contributes something to your overall skill-building process. Whatever program you choose, try to stick with it for at least a few months; quitting after just one week is usually not enough time for any changes or improvements to take place!
